We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow to work on CRISPR-Cas gene editing of the Huntington’s Disease (HD) gene in collaboration with the labs of Neil Aronin and Scot Wolfe at UMass Chan. HD is a devasting neurodegenerative disease that has no effective treatment. We are developing novel gene editing approaches to inactivate or correct the CAG repeat expansion that causes HD. These studies implement cutting edge gene editing and NGS methods as well as preclinical studies in cell culture and animal models. The methods developed for HD may be applicable to a series of genetic disorders causes by expansion of short tandem repeat sequences. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Research Laboratory Technician I, performs a variety of specimen preparatory techniques, dry lab data collection, and routine laboratory maintenance.
Shaoguang Li, MD, PhD, has been working on understanding the biology of leukemia stem cells (LSCs) with a goal of developing more effective therapeutic strategies for leukemias. Recently, he has expanded his research into a new area: artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine. Specifically, his lab has developed unique algorithms for medical research, including, for example, the diagnosis of human lymphoma with high accuracy by reading pathological slides (Li D, Bledsoe JR, Zeng Y, Liu W, Hu Y, Bi K, Liang A, Li S. A deep learning diagnostic platform for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with high accuracy across multiple hospitals. Nature Communications. 11(1):6004, 2020). He plans to further use the AI models established in his lab for studying molecular mechanisms underlying leukemogenesis and improving diagnostic accuracy of leukemias and solid tumors.
