Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Research Nurse Coordinator I is responsible to carry out all delegated tasks related to complex protocols testing investigational drugs, devices, or research interventions. The Research Nurse Coordinator I is a primary resource for study protocol conduct acting as a liaison between the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, clinical partners (ex. University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care (UMMHC)), the Principal Investigator, Institutional Review Board (IRB), and sponsors to ensure good clinical practice standards (GCP) throughout the life cycle of the study.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Public Provider Reimbursement (PPR) Department within the Center for Health Care Finance Solutions conducts statewide business services for several health and human services agencies of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) to maximize revenue for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Revenue is obtained from private, state and federal resources to reimburse the Commonwealth for the costs of health care and related services provided by public institutions and community-based programs. The PPR Specialist is responsible for performing medical billing and claiming functions, activities to identify and coordinate access to health care insurance and related benefits, and administrative and clerical duties.

Under the direction of a member of the faculty, the Bioinformatician is responsible for the design, development, evaluation and iterative modification of a technical infrastructure to expedite the quantitative evaluation of data resulting from studies that are laboratory based. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fazzio Lab (https://www.umassmed.edu/fazziolab/) has an opening for a Research Associate I. The lab studies the mechanisms by which chromatin structure and chromatin-associated RNA regulates gene expression and cell fate, and how these processes are disrupted in disease. The position will provide exposure to state of the art molecular, genomics, and systems biology approaches.
The primary responsibilities will be:
- Conducting research. Most of the time will be spent working closely with the principal investigator and senior lab members to carry out an independent research project and collaborate with other lab members on their projects, as needed.
- Assisting with lab management. Some amount of time will be spent helping with day-to-day operations in the lab, which includes maintaining supplies and stocks, and managing equipment.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Animal Facility Supervisor or Designee, the Animal Care Technician performs a variety of duties related to the care of laboratory animals. Primary responsibilities are to maintain a clean and healthy environment for laboratory animals and observe animals for their general health and well- being. The position is considered essential, and as such requires weekend, holiday and off hour’s coverage as needed.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general supervision of the Operations and Training Specialist or designee, this position is responsible for coordinating client appointments for Consultative Examinations (CE) by medical and psychiatric providers within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This position performs complex and varied duties associated with the coordination of departmental administrative functions through the use of the DEScovery computer system as well as Word, Excel, Access and Outlook applications. The Provider Management Coordinator is the primary contact for the community-based DES provider network, interfacing between disability reviewers requesting examinations and the CE network provider performing examinations. This position makes complex decisions regarding protected healthcare information (PHI) based on the Federal regulations regarding the protection of health information under the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act.
In addition, this position conducts business across all departments within DES. The Provider Management Coordinator is responsible for all functions involving providers for the DES CE provider panel, comprised of approximately 150 clinicians located throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Decisions made in this area directly impact the timeline for the disability review process and for the determination of benefits for MassHealth and other agency applicants. This position is the primary hub for all coordination of medical and psychiatric examinations, and interacts with clients, providers, and DES staff regarding establishing client appointments.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager or designee, this position provides direct administrative support and services necessary for the completion of professional medical responsibilities and functions for DES’ skilled professional medical personnel (SPMP), i.e. DES Physician and Psychologist Advisors, Disability and Appeals Reviewers, Program Managers and the Clinical Manager. The Disability Assistant makes complex decisions regarding protected healthcare information, based on the Federal Health Information Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). This position is responsible for exercising judgment on all administrative and clerical aspects of the case in conjunction with and at the direction of DES SPMP. The Disability Assistant is a primary customer service interface for DES’ SPMP with clients and external agencies.
POSITION SUMMARY:
A six-month, full-time co-op position in the RNA Therapeutics Institute (RTI) at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester available to undergraduate chemistry and life sciences majors.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, the field of RNA therapeutics has become significantly better known to scientific and lay communities worldwide. Oligonucleotides, including small interfering RNAs and antisense oligonucleotides, are creating a new class of medicines to treat genetic disorders such as neurodegenerative and other rare diseases. The work of synthesizing oligonucleotides for research and pharmaceutical use is an exciting combination of systematic production and scientific discovery, and chemists with oligo synthesis experience are in high demand in both industry and academia. Undergraduates interested in a career or further education in chemistry, or the life sciences will find the RTI to be a collaborative environment where students are treated as peer scientists and encouraged to participate in the many levels of experimental design, execution, discussion, and dissemination. Previous discoveries made at the RTI have resulted in the creation of pharmaceutical companies and the development of medicines being used to treat patients. Recent oligonucleotide chemists from the RTI have been recruited to well-paid positions in industry and accepted into prestigious graduate programs and medical schools.

Under the direction of the Director or designee, the Associate Software Engineer functions in all phases of applications development. This position assists with analysis of user needs, software and database design, programming and life cycle development of all business and clinical applications.
The Software Engineer - Associate will work with other engineers in the design and development of software applications that support the demands of UMass Chan academic, research and business needs. They may also participate in the evaluation and research of 3rd party software and conduct feasibility studies to determine appropriate solutions. Performs duties in a manner consistent with a complex, diverse, dynamic hardware and software environment and serves a complex medical/education community.
