The Flavahan lab has postdoctoral training positions available, focused on cancer epigenetics and chromatin biology.  We use cutting-edge techniques to investigate the cancer epigenome.  First, we seek to uncover how cryptic tumor drivers, such as mutations in metabolic enzymes or histone subunits, signal through the epigenome to activate oncogenic pathways.  Second, we are examining how the three-dimensional structure of the genome directs cancer cell responses and tumor progression.  Postdoctoral positions are available for these and related projects.  Experience in brain tumor or epigenetic research is preferred but not required.   For further information, please send a cover letter briefly detailing your research interests, current CV, and the names and contact information of three references to: Will Flavahan, PhD, Assistant Professor at William.Flavahan@umassmed.edu

This 2-year, research-focusedpost-doctoralfellowshipprovides trainingon integrating mental healthcare into maternal and child health care settings that have not traditionally provided mental health care. Fellows will work on projects that aim to build the capacity of maternal and child health care providers to address mental health and substance use disorders among pregnant and postpartum (perinatal) individuals and their children. Studies range from outpatient OB/GYN and pediatric settings to community settings and include developing, implementing and evaluating innovative approaches to increase access to care through building front-line provider capacity. Fellows will work on existing NIH-funded clinical and implementation studies and help with grant submissions. Fellows will also have the opportunity to work on population-based statewide programs focused on building the capacity of the medical community to address perinatal mental health and substance use disorders in Massachusetts (www.mcpapformoms.org) and other states (www.lifeline4moms.org).   This fellowship can be tailored to the career goals of the individual. In addition, fellows can opt to work on a statewide system to increase access to evidence-based trauma services and medical and community supports for children impacted by trauma and adversity and, if interested, can develop training skills in trauma-informed care and trauma-responsive practices in order to be able to train other providers in various settings.  If of interest, fellows will have the opportunity to work on integrating behavioral healthcare into the emergency department setting, including developing, studying, and integrating into practice cutting-edge e-health and m-health technologies. Fellows will be actively mentored to develop their ownindependentresearch and have opportunity for publications and presentations.   Currentactiveresearchincludes CDC, NIMH,SAMHSA, foundation, and state funded projects. The Li Lab has a broad interest in basic molecular mechanisms underlying the brain function. Using Drosophila as the primary genetic model, the lab is currently investigating how glial cells regulate neuronal signaling, as well as exploring neuronal functions of Ca2+/Calmodulin-binding transcription activators (CAMTA). Now we are recruiting motivated postdoctoral fellows to study these topics in both fly and mouse. Candidates for this position are expected to have strong experience in molecular cloning, neuronal cell culture, and in mouse or fly genetics. Training on electrophysiology is a plus.   Interested candidates should email a cover letter, CV, and 3 references to Hong-Sheng.Li@umassmed.edu

The Kelliher lab has postdoctoral training positions available in the laboratory focused on NOTCH1- mediated leukemogenesis. We applied single cell and bulk RNA-seq to our mouse models of T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) to uncover the clonal heterogeneity that underlies leukemic progression and therapeutic resistance and relapse. These studies revealed a dormant DN3 thymic progenitor population with a gene expression signature that was shared with ALL patients experiencing minimal residual disease. A postdoctoral position is available to identify critical L-IC genes that mediate therapeutic resistance and relapse. Experience in hematopoiesis research preferred.   The Kelliher lab also has had a long standing interest in TNF signaling with a focus on the death domain kinase RIPK1. A postdoctoral fellow position is available to study contributions of RIPK- mediated cell death and/or proinflammatory signaling to human diseases including bone marrow failure, autoimmune hepatitis and neurodegenerative diseases. Experience in innate or adaptive immunology preferred.  For further information, please send cover letter, current CV and the names and contact information of three references to:Michelle Kelliher, PhD, Professor at Michelle.Kelliher@umassmed.edu
