GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Health Outcomes Associate is responsible for directing and overseeing the daily activities of multi‑year projects that examines changes over time in the magnitude, in‑ hospital, and post-discharge outcomes of patients. Collaborate in writing manuscripts from these studies for scientific peer review and assist the Principal Investigator in preparing grant applications for external funding and report writing.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Director of the Power Plant or designee, the High Voltage Electrician/Co- Gen Engineer is responsible for the operation, repair and maintenance of all electrical systems, motors, controls, high voltage (13,800 volts) generation, switching and distribution equipment and systems. Performs all electrical work as required, and operates boilers, turbine generators, turbo motor compressors, and all related auxiliaries when required. Performs repairs to boiler, turbo generators, pumps, etc.

Under the general direction of the Assistant Clinical Director, the Social Worker II participates as an interdisciplinary member of the treatment team in an intensive adolescent treatment program, provides trauma-informed care, and promotes a person-centered, skills-based collaborative philosophy in conjunction with the individual, and/or the individual’s family, state, and community agencies/programs. Take an active role in re-acclimating individuals to the larger community. The Social Worker II participates in a process of continuous learning and demonstrates openness to evolving philosophies of practice, including restraint and seclusion prevention.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a postdoctoral fellow position in the Program of Molecular Medicine and Diabetes Center of Excellence at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The Maehr laboratory focuses on human pluripotent stem cell-based disease models to investigate and to find novel treatment strategies for immune syndromes, such as Type 1 diabetes.

A position is available in the Miller laboratory to extend the scope of fluorescence and bioluminescence for imaging of specific biological processes and disease states in live cells and animals. Work in the lab is inherently multi-disciplinary and may include protein engineering, mouse imaging, culture of multiple cell lines, vector design, enzyme assays, chemical synthesis, and immunohistochemistry of tissues. Examples of recent lab efforts include bioluminescence imaging of gene expression and enzymatic activity in the brain [Nature Methods 11, 393 (2014); JACS 137, 8684 (2015); Angewandte Chemie 55, 4943 (2016)], detection of latent luciferase activity in fruit flies [PNAS 111, 4443 (2014); ACS Chem Bio 12, 2946 (2017)], the development of new selective mutant luciferases and synthetic luciferin substrates [JACS 136, 13277 (2014); Angewandte Chemie 55, 4943 (2016); Org Lett 19, 5836 (2017); Org Lett 21, 1641 (2019)], and the synthesis of new fluorescent dyes [Org Lett 20, 4482 (2018); Org Lett 21, 1641 (2019)].
Motivated and inherently curious critical thinkers with experience in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, neuroscience, and/or animal studies are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Horae Gene Therapy Center of the University of Massachusetts Medical School invites applications for postdoctoral researcher positions. Our research topics include gene therapy using AAV vectors, RNA therapy, gene editing, AAV biology, and AAV vector development. Applicants should have a PhD degree in relevant areas such as molecular biology, RNA biology, biochemistry, and virology. Applicants of diverse research background are encouraged to apply, such as neuroscience, chemistry, mouse genetics, bioengineering, and cell biology. Applicants highly skilled in molecular cloning, mouse work, confocal microscopy, DNA/RNA analysis, are preferred.
