The Horae Gene Therapy Center of the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position to develop AAV-based gene therapy technologies using genome editing and RNA-based methods.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in relevant areas such as molecular biology, RNA biology, biochemistry, and virology. Applicants of diverse research background are encouraged to apply, such as neuroscience, mouse genetics, bioengineering, and cell biology. Applicants highly skilled in molecular cloning, mouse work, deep sequencing and data analysis (Illumina, PacBio, Nanopore), are preferred. Applicants must also have the ability to work independently, coordinate multiple projects and activities concurrently. Strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required. The Watts Lab is making a new generation of oligonucleotide tools and therapeutics by working at the interface of chemistry and biology, including gene silencing, gene activation, and genome editing.
The Tai and Gao labsof the Horae Gene Therapy Center at the UMass Chan Medical School are inviting applications for postdoctoral positions to pursue multiple research topics that encompass: gene therapy using AAV vectors, RNA therapy, gene editing, immunology, virology, and AAV vector development.
Applicants should have a PhD degree or an MD with post-graduate scientific training, and at least three years of research experience in relevant areas such as Molecular Biology, RNA biology, Biochemistry, animal modeling, Immunology, Gene Therapy, Cell Therapy, Bioengineering, Neuromuscular Biology, Cell Biology, and Virology.
Applicants with backgrounds in molecular biology, mouse work, NHP work, gene editing, microscopy, human and mouse genetics, next-gen sequencing, bioinformatics, single-cell sequencing, or protein/structural biology are preferred.
Applicants must also have the ability to work independently and coordinate multiple projects, concurrently. Strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of a member of the faculty, the Bioinformatician is responsible for the design, development, evaluation and iterative modification of a technical infrastructure to expedite the quantitative evaluation of data resulting from studies that are laboratory based. Under the general direction of the Clinical Director or designee, the Social Worker I participates as an interdisciplinary member of the treatment team providing trauma-informed care and promoting a person-centered, skills-based collaborative philosophy in conjunction with the individual, and/or the individual’s family, state, and community agencies/programs. The Social Worker I participates in a process of continuous learning and demonstrates openness to evolving philosophies of practice, including restraint and seclusion prevention.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Recovery Support Specialist provides peer recovery support services to patients with substance use disorder (SUD) and will assist patients in achieving sustained recovery. Facilitates patient access to recovery oriented substance use disorder treatment, resources, and community recovery groups. Bridges the segregated treatment system into a more holistic care model through providing support across multiple systems of care. Maintain ongoing patient support regardless of client relapse and will serve as a motivator, ally, role model, problem-solver, and advocate for patients with substance use disorders. Possesses thorough understanding of community culture to address the barriers to successful recovery, better tailor health messages, and provide links to community resources and treatment options.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Nurse Practitioneras a member of research team is responsible for independently carrying out multiple complex research protocol designed to test the efficacy of a behavioral intervention; select and monitor test populations; provide expert consultation to clinical research staff; collect and help analyze data; report findings to principal investigator, and IRB when necessary.
We are seeking an outstanding individual for a fully funded postdoctoral position in the laboratories of Dale Greiner, Ph.D. and Michael Brehm, Ph.D. Our laboratories are developing a number of cutting-edge humanized mouse models to study type 1 diabetes.
Our research interests include; 1) effector functions of human autoreactive T cells, 2) interactions between autoreactive T cells and human pancreatic beta cells and 3) identifying immune therapeutics that suppress the destruction of human beta cells by autoreactive T cells. To address these interests, we use a number of approaches including immunological, cellular, molecular and genomic. In addition to learning multidisciplinary approaches to study human type 1 diabetes, the candidate will have opportunities for career development in both academic and private sectors.

The Research Lab Tech II is expected to present a courteous, professional manner when dealing with customers.

The Maehr lab is seeking a highly motivated individual to work with a team of researchers to broaden their understanding of the underlying cause of autoimmune diabetes, and how novel stem cell therapy approaches can be optimized for innovative treatment strategies and immune modulations.
