GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Under the general supervision of the Director or designee, the Maintenance Co-Generation Engineer II supervises the operation of 13,000 volt main circuit breakers and the production of steam, electricity, and chilled water. Supervise and lead a team of three other engineers through 12 hour shifts meeting load demands, weather changes, equipment outages, optimizing efficiency, and coordinating with facilities operations.

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Department of Pathology at UMass Chan Medical School located in Worcester, Massachusetts, invites applications for Research positions at the Research Technician or Research Associate level. In addition to experimentation, the Technician’s duties will include managing laboratory supplies (inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt), assisting with equipment maintenance, and attending and participating in group and project meetings.   The applicant should be highly motivated to learn and contribute to research progress, with strong communication skill. Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or a related field is required. Experience as a research technician with cell culture and/or basic molecular biology techniques including cloning and PCR are preferred but not required. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Reporting to the Facility Medical Director, the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive behavioral health care to adult patients in either an inpatient or outpatient setting. The patient population served consists of adults with chronic and persistent mental health conditions served by the state’s mental health authority. Patients have complex bio-psycho-social needs and may be forensically involved.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:   Under the general supervision of the Residency Program Director or designee, the Residency Program Coordinator II is responsible for the coordination of a wide range of diverse administrative functions for one or more residency/fellowship programs and may also be responsible for medical student elective clerkships in the Department. This position functions as a liaison between all residents and fellows and the residency programs at UMMS and affiliated hospitals, health centers, and community physician practices.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Research Project Director is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of child health equity-focused research studies. This position will be primarily overseeing a new multi-site NIH-funded R01 focused on applying an antiracism lens to social determinants of health screening. Interest in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and health equity is a must.    

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) or designee, the Clinical Research Coordinator II is responsible for independently performing delegated tasks and procedures involving human subject research. This work includes coordination of regulatory activities and aspects of collection and management of data for complex research protocols related to treatment, ancillary services, and prevention practices. The position will involve approximately 50% desk-work and 50% hands-on patient interaction, covering various neuromuscular disorders such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Adrenomyeloneuropathy, and Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy.  The research projects cover everything from biomarker/natural history studies to phase 1 through phase 3 clinical trials.  Through these various studies we aim to help uncover the causes of neuromuscular diseases and help test potential groundbreaking therapies for these diseases, such as gene therapies and novel antisense oligonucleotide treatments.  We are looking for an individual who is excited to advance their career in clinical research and become an integral member of our team.

POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the supervision of the Animal Facility Supervisor or Designee, the Animal Care Technician performs a variety of duties related to the care of laboratory animals. Primary responsibilities are to maintain a clean and healthy environment for laboratory animals.  The position is considered essential, and as such requires weekend, holiday and off hour’s coverage as needed.

The University of Massachusetts Medical School - Application Deadline: Open Until Filled Job Description: A postdoctoral associate position is available in the Zhang Lab for a highly motivated candidate. Our lab is interested in the interplay between sensory systems and internal physiology. For example, our sensation is largely impacted by the internal state (e.g. food smells and tastes better when we are hungry); conversely, taste stimulation triggers downstream signaling responses, and long-term taste/diet experience shapes physiology and behavior. To dissect neuronal and molecular mechanisms underlying this interplay, we leverage multidisciplinary approaches including single-cell RNA sequencing, live animal calcium imaging and photometry, CRISPR-based genetic engineering, optogenetics, and animal behavioral analysis. We use the mammalian taste pathway as a model, to understand how the nervous system integrates external and internal information to drive behavior and maintain homeostasis. The postdoctoral associate will have considerable freedom to develop projects that fit the broad scope of our laboratory.   Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in a field of biological sciences. We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) for health informatics. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in biomedical informatics, computer science or a related field. Working experience with electronic health records (EHRs) data, machine learning (deep learning), and natural language processing (NLP) are preferred. A two year post-doctoral position is available to work on project involving molecular cloning and cellular biology for AAV production using Sf9 cell system. The candidate will be part of a collaboration between Umass Chan Medical School in Worcester, MA and AbbVie, a biopharmaceutical company (located in Worceter,MA) to redesign and optimize the baculovirus system to increase the amount and quality of AAV production.
