Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

The Laboratory Technician II is responsible for the maintenance of daily laboratory operations, performing a wide variety of research and/or development laboratory tasks and experiments and maintains laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Asceptically cultures common mammalian cell lines
  • Vials biological material
  • Packs and ships temperature-sensitive biological material
  • Keeps track of and maintains inventory
  • Performs autoclaving of biohazard waste
  • Washes and autoclaves glassware
  • Maintains lab stocks of general consumables
  • Assists with buffer and media preparation
  • Monitors and maintains all equipment, ensures that general preventative maintenance is conducted
  • Develops new more time effective approaches to maintaining the day-to-day operations of the laboratory
  • Performs additional job duties as required

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires an Associate degree with a minimum 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize deviations from standard procedures and initiate appropriate corrective action
  • Ability to troubleshoot within scope of training
  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel and other relevant electronic systems
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines
  • Possesses strong attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate written records
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs
