Under the general direction of the Asst. Vice Chancellor for Grants & Contracts Administration or designee, the  Director, GCA oversees process improvement initiatives related to business processes and procedures associated with grants and contracts administration and costing policies.  The oversight and development of the Medical School’s indirect cost rate proposal and related research revenue maximization methods, procedures and analysis are also a primary function of this role.    



  • Management of the development and negotiation of the facilities and administrative (F&A) cost proposals, rates and modeling for all business segments of the University. Including gathering, maintenance and analysis of financial, effort and space usage information.
  • Oversight and coordination of business process improvement initiatives and the development and documenting of GCA business processes; including collaborations with other central offices
  • Key contributor in strategic planning regarding the Medical School’s grants and contracts administration and indirect costs in collaboration with senior school administration
  • Development and analysis of senior level reports for special project requests related to strategic initiatives which include complex reconciliations and interpretation
  • Serve as an institutional resource for new and changing regulatory and sponsor requirements. Including interpretation, dissemination and education of changes and their impact on current and future grants management and cost accounting policies and procedures.
  • Involved in the development and education of documented internal controls related to grants management, systems, policies and processes for GCA.
  • Create and collaborate on the development and analysis metrics for measuring efficiency of departmental processes for department leadership
  • Document and communicate grant and contract administration and costing policies and procedures as a member of GCA leadership.  
  • Create and deliver presentations for Grants and Contracts Administration for presentation to all levels of the University
  • Perform other duties as required.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Research Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 7 years of demonstrated administrative responsibility in grants management, cost analysis, process efficiency or related fields; with previous management and leadership skills working in a large complex environment
  • Possess high-level communication skills, both oral and written, including development of proposals, reports and analysis presented effectively across a diverse population of stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills with ability to organize and prioritize workload, identify problem areas and take action to meet deadlines
  • Advanced knowledge of OMB Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards and the NIH Grants Policy Statement
