Postdoctoral Research Associate, Computational Biology
The Karlsson Lab in the Program in Bioinformatics and Integrative Biology, University of Massachusetts Medical School seeks a computational postdoctoral associate to work with us on a new NSF-funded project to discover the genomic basis of cellular robustness in organisms with flexible homeostasis. Our project is investigating epigenetic responses in cells of species that tolerate reduced blood oxygen during deep diving, elevated blood glucose during frugivory, and circadian and seasonal shifts in body temperature. The ideal candidate will be experienced in computational biology, statistical inference, R, and command-line coding. The post doc will collaborate with scientists at UMass Medical School, Broad Institute, University of Minnesota, and University of Nevada to develop integrated computational analysis of genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic and cell-morphology data from cells cultured under conditions that model variation in an organism's internal milieu. The post doc will also have the opportunity to contribute to outreach programs that engage middle school students to develop their skills in coding and experimental design.
