GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. John Landers in the Department of Neurology, University of Massachusetts Medical School (https://www.umassmed.edu/landerslab/). The lab is interested in investigating the common mechanisms involved in ALS neurodegeneration and using that information to identify molecular targets that will be at the heart of a new class of therapeutics capable of blocking the disease progression of all ALS patients. This project involves testing the in vivo efficacy of a potential therapeutic target using mouse models of ALS. Techniques utilized include mouse behavioral studies, cell culture, fluorescent imaging, and other molecular, cellular and biochemical approaches. Highly motivated scientists with a Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics or related area of study and a strong interest in neurodegenerative disease are encouraged to apply.
