    GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

     

    The Benefit Coordination & Recovery (BCR) Associate I position reports to the Senior Manager of the BCR Unit, and is an integral member of the project team, assisting in the development of program enhancements and new initiatives of varying size and complexity and synchronizing operations involved in their successful completion.  The Associate I will perform non-routine research and administrative tasks related to the coordination and oversight of projects to ensure timely and effective project development and completion. 

     

    The BCR Unit is dynamic, fast-paced, and continually progressing. Success will require multi-tasking, team collaboration, independent judgment, and the ability to meet deadlines.  The program places significant emphasis on continuous quality improvement.

     

     

    • Serve as a liaison for the department; provide advice to project participants; act as a resource person by performing research, analyzing information, providing documentation, assessing needs, setting goals and objectives and preparing reports
    • Coordinate and attend meetings; establish and maintain internal and external contacts
    • Establish project work plan and schedule; monitor, review, and evaluate progress
    • Monitor record keeping and file maintenance for the program or project; verify and analyze the accuracy of all data and information used or generated by project; resolve discrepancies or problems
    • Supervise other project staff; assign tasks; oversee and ensure timely processing and delivery of required materials

     

    Responsibilities

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate and implement new products and projects  
    • Perform complex analysis in support of projects in and out of state
    • Participate in developing proposal responses by providing documentation and analysis
    • Assist in the preparation of client and staff presentations and marketing materials 
    • Provide support to staff performing consulting services
    • Participate in project forecasting and financial analysis
    • Present the research and development findings on industry trends to support revenue initiatives
    • Assist in the development of agreements between public entities and the University
    • Communicate with client as required concerning status of their projects
    • Respond to client needs and requests
    • Prepare internal and external reports 
    • Assist in the design of and implement instruments to quantify reimbursement costs
    • Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement program
    • Assist in the preparation of federal claims for reimbursement
    • Perform other job related duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • 3-5 years of experience in a business related field or other related experience
    • Preferred knowledge of State and Federal regulations as they apply to public assistance programs
    • Demonstrated experience in computer based tools including spreadsheets and word processing
    • Knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and computer reporting preparation
    • Demonstrated project management skills

    Additional Information

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Expertise in professional project management practices
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook
    • Demonstrated experience/skills with data warehouse concepts and reporting tools, SQL or VB for managing data held in a relational database management system
    • Understanding of health care benefit programs, and health insurance regulations; in particular, MassHealth, Third Party Liability, commercial/private insurers, Medicaid and Medicare eligibility requirements
    • Outstanding interpersonal communication and team building skills
    • Ability to apply critical thinking to complex problems
    • Ability to work in a team and meet performance deadlines in a dynamic environment
