GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Principle Investigator, the Senior Research Scientist performs a variety of complex research experiments laboratory research on topics pertinent to the interests of the research programs of the laboratory.
Unique roles and responsibilities of this position include characterization and production of laboratory HHV-6 virus stocks, virus purification and analysis by mass spectrometry and electron microscopy, coordination of laboratory peptide synthesis orders, maintenance of peptide inventory database, oversight of synthetic peptide inventory; MHC peptide binding assays; ex vivo T cell activation assays, isolation of MHC-peptide complexes from physiological samples and characterization of bound peptides by multidimensional mass spectrometry and proteomics.

Supervises and trains new laboratory personnel and junior members of the laboratory
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Wet chemistry laboratory, and may require appropriate contact with biohazards, radionuclides, toxins, animals, and human specimens.
