    GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Information Technology at The University of Massachusetts Medical School has a unique opportunity for a Software Engineering Intern to join us at the intersection of technology, innovation, and teamwork.

The Information Technology department at the Center for Healthcare Financing at Charlestown is looking for tech-savvy aspiring software engineering intern to join one of our teams. During the internship, we’ll collaborate to leverage technology, software engineering methodologies such as open-source development, and industry best practices to help:

    1. Modernize the technology stack and reduce technical debt.
    2. Increase efficiency, maintainability, traceability, up-time, and robustness across enterprise applications.
    3. Connect with external technical and open-source communities. Communities include local meetups, Hackathons, potential students, industry, and non-profits.
    4. Ensure a sustainable software development framework is achieved by the department after the internship. A framework would provide the departments with the ability to continue to improve on projects and products, with minimal cost and overhead.

Together, we’ll apply best practices in software development, dev-ops, IT engineering and agile processes to achieve the departments’ goals. Along the way we’ll consult on how best to both develop a sustainable engineering roadmap of technical excellence that compliments the $1.7b enterprise brand and makes the departments’ products and applications stand out. All this while easily aligning with our institution’s security and privacy posture.
