  • Overview

    GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, Health Systems Transformation, or designee, the Sr Finance Manager     is responsible for management and oversight of financial activity and budget process for various Business Units within CWM at the unit/program level and as acts as a co-liaison to various Business Units to support and convey program financial decisions in areas of budgeting and reporting.

    Responsibilities

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Financial Management

    • Monitor monthly budget to actuals at unit/program level, address variances and make recommendations to unit/program, if needed, with understanding and consideration of funding type and project agreement
    • Analyze program budgets and provide projections for unit/programs as well as Financial Services.         
    • Manage annual budget process, working with units/programs and responding to ad-hoc requests made by Financial Services.                    
    • Prepare internal monthly financial analysis reports for senior management, as required.      
    • Serve as a co-liaison to CHPR, interacting with Financial Services and university funding agencies and sponsors in response to funding opportunities.

    Business Opportunity

     

    • Participate in new business opportunity assessment meetings, to include assisting program areas with financial aspects of business proposals, pricing models, and other activities as needed to meet client's budgetary needs and commitment.

    Grants and Contracts

    • Review preparation and timely submission of grant applications and reports and the development of associated budgets and re-budgets, ensuring University, federal, state, as well private agency policies and guidelines are followed.                               
    • Serve as a liaison with principal investigators and other departments.     

    Staff Oversight

    • Oversee activities of Business Core staff; provide direction and mentor for efficient and effective business practices; ensure University guidelines and policies are followed.                                              
    • Serve as a unit/program resource regarding compliance with federal and state regulations.                          
    • Review and approve sponsored grant proposals.                                     
    • Oversee Compensation Review Committee submissions

    Administrative Support

    • Guide Directors in administrative processes                                        

     

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's Level Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent                                         
    • 5-10 years’ related experience                 
    • Progressive responsibility experience in a financial related position; business proposals and pricing models; excellent communication skills (oral and written) to present or communicate effectively with all levels of management; working knowledge of federal and state agency policies and regulations.
