  • Overview


    Under the general supervision of the Index Program Director or designee, the Information Coordinator is responsible for overseeing New England INDEX’s efforts to continuously expand and update resource listings in various databases. Other duties include: monitoring NOTES databases for feedback and questions from MNIP members, providing input to the development team regarding the design of databases, participating in bi-monthly information specialist meetings, and interacting with representatives of state agencies and funding organizations.



    • Identify programs, agencies, and providers who offer services to people with disabilities
    • Survey programs, etc. for inclusion in INDEX databases
    • Monitor information requests to determine new areas of interest/need
    • Collaborate with MNIP member agencies and state agencies to identify new programs, etc.
    • Interact effectively with users who possess various computer skill levels.
    • Manage all aspects of annual mail update of INDEX databases
    • Supervise data entry of updates
    • Work with MNIP staff to identify and correct errors/changes in databases.
    • Work with MNIP member agencies and others to identify multi-cultural agencies, programs, and providers who offer services to people with disabilities
    • Follow- up by phone and in person, with identified programs, to insure their inclusion in INDEX databases
    • Explore potential membership in the MNIP and inform their constituents of MNIP information services
    • Demonstrate MNIP information and referral systems at meetings, conferences, and resource fairs
    • Manage the design, production, and distribution of marketing and outreach literature
    • Serve as a resource and continuously use field experience.
    • Serve as back-up support for information specialists
    • Answer telephone inquiries and direct callers to appropriate MNI agency
    • Perform other duties as required.




    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • 1-3 years of related experience
    • Demonstrated experience with databases and presentation software
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and basic marketing skills required
    • Demonstrated sensitivity to issues facing people with disabilities required


    • Knowledge about MA human-service delivery system
    • Bi-lingual (Spanish preferred)
    • Working knowledge with MS office suite and data entry
