    GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    Our team provides tailored marketing communication services from comprehensive integrated campaigns that cater to various audiences to stand-alone marketing materials. We offer our internal and external clients guidance and support from ideas to creation to implementation..

     

    Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Marketing Communications, or designee, the Strategic Marketing Manager acts as a marketing consultant for business units of UMass Medical School’s Commonwealth Medicine division, and as a liaison to Strategic Growth & Business Development to support decision-making in the areas of marketing strategy and marketing communications. The Strategic Marketing Manager also serves as an account manager for all revenue-generating external clients seeking marketing and communications support.

     

    In this capacity, the Strategic Marketing Manager will oversee the execution of strategic marketing plans tied to specific product/service lines, events and/or objectives. The Strategic Marketing Manager will collaborate with subject matter experts and coordinate resources to implement marketing plans with a focus on digital marketing campaigns and website administration.

     

    The scope of the Strategic Marketing Manager’s responsibility is organization-wide and will include significant interaction with management staff at program and director levels.

    Responsibilities

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead marketing strategy for target growth areas and special initiatives to contribute to the growth of Commonwealth Medicine.
    • Manage external client relationships by developing and leading the implementation of specific marketing communication plans and deliverables.
    • Serve as key strategic manager of and critical contributor to the enterprise brand strategy.
    • Develop strategies for marketing new business lines, and repackaging and commercializing new products and services within business lines.
    • Act as a marketing consultant to business lines on overall and specific marketing strategies by leading the development of marketing plans and materials that articulate enterprise capabilities and success.
    • Participate in interdepartmental projects and strategy sessions, prepare background materials and guidance documents, and present on assigned topics.
    • Manage specific enterprise digital marketing efforts, including website content development, email blasts, webinars and videos, social media, and online advertising.
    • Evaluate website marketing efforts based on analytics tracking and adjust search engine optimization techniques as needed, under the direction of the Senior Web Development and Creative Manager. Report on website analytics to business units.
    • Manage special projects that may be of a complex nature for the Senior Leadership Team, as assigned.
    • Develop and maintain strategic business relationships with clients, as well as senior leaders across the organization.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in business, marketing, or related field; or equivalent.
    • 6-8 years of related experience in marketing or business development, including at least one year of previous supervisory or management experience.
    • Experience in developing business strategy within a matrixed organization.
    • Superior oral and written communications skills as well as excellent presentation skills.
    • Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities and re-prioritize as necessary.
    • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, and ability to research, evaluate and manage software applications for identified business needs.
    • Experience in website development, content management, and digital and social media marketing.

    Additional Information

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Working knowledge of design software applications a plus.
    • Prior experience in the health care field.
    • General knowledge of the health care system, health policy and Medicare and Medicaid payment systems.
