Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Financial Systems or designee, the Financial Systems Analyst III performs a variety of duties related to maintaining and administering the Medical School’s financial applications.

Responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Work with the Assistant Director of Financial Systems in providing overall maintenance and operation of financial applications, including reporting, security, training and  monthly close
  • Understand key performance measures and indicators that drive reporting and analytics across multiple data sources. Collaborates with end users to understand reporting requirements and develop reporting solutions based on business needs.
  • Responsible for all phases of complex report design and development across various platforms and reporting tools, including gathering of functional needs and design requirements from end-users, translation of needs into technical design specifications and testing of reports.
  • Reviews data integrity on reports validating results against sources specified in the requirements.
  • Participates in all phases of implementations and upgrades to Financial Systems.
  • Serves as the Financial Systems representative on various work groups and committees, including the Universities Systems Core Team.
  • Work with both central and de-central users to demonstrate system functionality and features. Provide support to users in meeting business requirements across all financial applications in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Translate advanced user requirements into system specifications and business processes.
  • Establish campus level standards and procedures to ensure integrity of financial systems and monitor for adherence to such standards and procedures.
  • Design user training materials and deliver training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in systems operations preferably in a system support role providing end-user support and system maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial systems operations, business procedures, and relational databases and reporting tools.
  • Experience with Finance data and Business Intelligence Solutions and Software.
  • Understands multiple roles including architect, data modeler (necessary for discovering, analyzing, and specifying changes to how reports and dashboards create and maintain information).
  • Proven ability to work well with technical and non-technical staff involved in the successful delivery of projects.
  • Experience in internal systems development and interfacing is an advantage.
  • Experience in facilitating and enabling business change.
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL and SQL Server a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently and handle multiple tasks/projects.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

 

Reports to the Assistant Director of Financial Systems, with the ability to work independently on stated priorities and responsibilities.

 

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

 

Provides functional supervision of other Financial Systems Analyst position. May provide functional supervision and direction to other staff on particular projects. Assumes Assistant Directors duties in his/her absence
