Under the direction of Principal Investigator or Designee, performs genetic and biochemical experiments to understand RNA regulation during s germline development and embryogenesis. Experiments will include transgenic animal construction, CRISPR-mediated genome editing, reporter gene studies, gene expression analysis, high throughput sequencing, phenotype characterization, and imaging using C. elegans as a model system.
Designs and performs experiments, analyzes data, and carefully documents the outcome, writes manuscripts and publishes results, presents the results in local and/or national meetings. Writes standard operating procedures, assists with training of graduate and undergraduate students, Complies with all safety and infection control standards appropriate to this position. Performs other related duties as required. Works with the Principal Investigator and other laboratory personnel harmoniously, cooperatively, and effectively.
Ph.D. degree in Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related life science discipline
Experience with C. elegans required. Ability to perform microinjections, next generation sequencing, protein purification, and/or large scale data analysis pipelines considered strongly beneficial, but not absolutely required.
Standard C. elegans husbandry, genetic crosses, and transgenesis. Molecular biology techniques including cloning, plasmid purification, and PCR. Careful technique, quantitative reasoning, and excellent communication skills are required. The ability to work independently is strongly desirable
May supervise/train students and other staff working in the lab.
