Overview

An opportunity exists for a full-time Post Doctoral Associate in the Mass Spectrometry Facility at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Located in Shrewsbury MA, the Facility provides both services and collaborative efforts within the Medical School, as well as to external academic and industry partners. The Facility supports a diversity of applications in quantitative proteomics, structural biology, metabolomics, small molecule quantitation, and mass spectrometry imaging. There are eight mass spectrometry platforms including two Thermo Orbitraps, two Q-TOFs (Waters, Agilent) and two triple quadrupole instruments (Thermo, Waters).

Responsibilities

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct experimental research in multiple project areas
  • Conceive, design, and conduct research experiments
  • Analyze and synthesize results
  • Write and collaborate on scholarly papers, research reports, white papers, and conference materials
  • Communicate research findings verbally and in writing to team members, collaborators and funders
  • Apply, adapt, and comment on research
  • Assist in planning, conducting and contributing appropriately to scholarly conferences, panel presentations, and academic exchanges
  • Work sensitively with confidential information, maintain research compliance, and preserve documents, data, and research materials in organized physical and electronic file system
  • Assist as requested in hiring, training and/or supervising research staff
  • Perform other duties as required

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD degree required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with research and data analysis programs
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to analyze complex visual data in a quantitative and objective manner.
  • Judgment and action skills required to solve commonly encountered problems
